Pneumatic fail-safe brakes are spring applied and use pneumatic pressure to hold open the brake. If the brake is turned off or power is lost, the spring engages the brake.

We incorporate both pneumatic disc and drum brakes into our industrial braking systems. We also provide comprehensive repair services for these brakes.

Advantages:

Pneumatic brakes can provide a very cost-effective solution in certain applications. They are typically used as holding or service brakes in situations where compressed air is readily available and the torque requirement is relatively low.

Disadvantages:

Since system pneumatic pressure is relatively low (normally much lower than hydraulic pressure), pneumatic brakes aren’t able to generate as much torque as our hydraulic brakes, thruster brakes, or electromagnetic brakes. Additionally, if compressed air isn’t already available, it likely makes sense to explore other braking solutions that don’t require installing pneumatics.
